Message from New Zealand Football

 

Twelve action packed matches, 44 goals scored and we are only through the first group matches! Over 70,000 people enjoyed matches all over the country this long weekend. Take  a look at what you can expect from round two of the group stage, and don't miss out on

Group A

Myanmar vs Ukraine
Tuesday 1pm, Whangarei

Myanmar will be heading into this match aware that a loss could well knock them out of the tournament, while Ukraine will be trying to secure the all important four points to secure progress to the round of 16. 

New Zealand vs USA
Tuesday 7pm, Auckland

New Zealand will again have the crowd behind them, and will be to looking to convert their chances into goals. USA will be looking to build on their come from behind win against Myanmar.

Group B

Austria vs Panama
Tuesday 4pm, Wellington

Panama were impressive against Argentina and will take alot of confidence out of their performance while Austria will know they missed an opportunity to take an early lead in Group B 

Argentina vs Ghana
Tuesday 7pm, Wellington
 
Ghana were lucky to steal a point at the death in their opening match, and Argentina would have expected to be topping Group B but not by alphabetical order

Qatar vs Portugal
Wednesday 4pm Hamilton

Qatar were caught out early and went down despite a solid second half. Portugal dominated Senegal and with two goals late on will have the momentum 

Senegal vs Colombia
Wednesday 7pm Hamilton
 
Senegal played well, despite the scoreline they will be encouraged by the drop in performance from Colombia in the second half of their opening match

Mexico vs Uruguay

In the major round 1 upset, Mexico will be out for redemption, Uruguay will be looking to build on their victory over Serbia and will also be aware of the suspensions facing Mexico 

Serbia vs Mali
Wednesday 7pm Dunedin

Serbia had the upper hand for most of the game vs Uruguay but were unable to convert any of their 15 attempts while Mali will take a lot of confidence from their win and will have their sights firmly on the Round of 16!

Nigeria played their part in a great opening match in New Plymouth, unforced keeping errors cost them vital points and Korea DPR will be looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat

Hungary vs Brazil
Thursday 7pm New Plymouth

Brazil got off to a flying start and earned a hard fought victory, Hungary piled on the goals and were far too strong for Korea DPR, they will be looking to continue their rich vein of form

Honduras vs Fiji

Improvement will be needed by Fiji if they want to progress to the next stage. While Honduras looked clinical upfront, will need to work on their defensive side of their game

Germany vs Uzbekistan
Thursday 7pm Christchurch
 
Germany were dominate against Fiji and will be looking to secure qualification early. Uzbekistan will need to work on their finishing as early missed opportunities proved to be the difference in their opening match
