Southern United Season Launch

Southern United Football Club held its 2018/19 season launch at The Edgar Centre in Dunedin last night.

Coaches Paul O’Reilly, Terry Boylan, Stuart Moffatt and Darren Hart introduced their four national league squads to a warm and supportive audience of club sponsors, player’s families/whanau and friends, club members, and Southern United Academy players.

ISPS Handa Premiership Captain Conor O’Keefe said “It was great to have all four teams together in the same space, there was a real buzz in the room”.

Football South CEO Chris Wright lead proceedings and describes the launch – “ It takes huge effort from so many people to make Southern United what is it, and for me it was a proud moment last night to see so many of our players, coaches, sponsors, supporters and key staff in one place. Events like this are invaluable for building club spirit and relationships, and it’s a good platform for all teams to kick-on with their seasons. I’m looking forward to the next club event!”

Three teams are in action this weekend in local derby games against opposition from Canterbury.
On Saturday, the National Women's League Team head to Christchurch to play the first of a double header derby weekend against top of the table and so far unbeaten Canterbury Pride at English Park, with the second game being played on Monday 2pm kick off at Tahuna Park, Dunedin.
